Not every customer arrives with a finished CAD file. Some have a sketch. Some have an exploded-view PDF and a sample part. Some have a model that needs cleanup before it's quotable. CAD / CAM design covers the work of getting any of those to a state where a part can be cut, repeatably, on our floor.
The deliverable depends on the engagement. Sometimes it's just an internal model used to program the job, never seen by the customer. Sometimes it's a clean STEP or DWG handed back with the parts. Sometimes, for customers exploring whether to bring machining in-house, it's the post-processed G-code itself.
We use SolidWorks and Mastercam as our primary tooling. We can read most modern CAD formats and will tell you up front if a file has problems that need to be addressed before quoting.
Typical applications
- 01Cleanup and repair of imported CAD files before quoting
- 02Net-new modeling from sketches, samples, or measurements
- 03Production-ready CAM programming for outside shops
- 04DWG conversion for legacy drawings to be digitized
- 05Toolpath simulation and validation before first cut
